How to increase AdSense earnings: easy steps
       December 11th, 2006

Now and then my AdSense clicks will be very low, I mean separate clicks generating me .01- .03 clicks are quite common with some of my websites.

My first idea was that it might be clicks generated by the traffic coming from third countries. It is quite possible.

Next idea was that my AdSense account was smart priced. Possible? Certainly.

Recently I have discovered one more possible cause of low paying clicks – a list of websites that go after very cheap PPC traffic. As a result, your AdSense earnings are next to nothing when your website visitors click on the ads of these websites (I think we can define these websites as a sort of arbi focused websites).

It is one thing to make an arbi test of your own, and completely different when you get very low clicks on your ‘valuable’ sites (so, arbi stuff is a ‘bad’ thing?)

Adsblacklist.com website is a priceless resource if you would like to detect and filter those parasite websites so that they would not get featured on the pages of your websites.

Just scan their current top 30 and you are likely to recognize some URL’s, I am sure of that:

Summary: What should you do with this website list? It is up to you. I just blocked them via AdSense interface (‘Competitive Ad Filter’ option in AdSense setup) as I do not want these one cent clicks.

Effect? I am not certain. First a slight decline in AdSense earnings followed by a great increase, then a slight fall again.

Google AdSense: how I transferred funds from one account to another
       November 22nd, 2006

I run a US based company and I had a Google AdSense corporate account in the name of that company. A month or so back I received a notice from my bank that they were closing my company bank account (read the Patriotic Act) as I am a non-US resident. I have received this notice 3-4 days before the account was shut down.

It is not an easy task to open a US bank account for non-US citizens nowadays, so I was sure that 1,5 month of Google AdSense earnings made for that corporate account and pending were lost. It is a fact that Google does not transfer AdSense accounts. And does not allow multiple accounts in the name of one person.

At my websites I replaced all AdSense codes with my personal AdSense publisher ID. Then I have received AdSense October check in the name of my company. I had no way to cash it. So, I made up my mind to contact Google just to ask and forget about it. I was 100% sure that the response would be negative.

You can imagine my surprise when I received a reply from Google where they offered me their help. Here is their message:

Thank you for your email. I’ll be happy to work with you to correct your payee name.

Prior to initiating this process, please be aware that we’re unable to accommodate multiple tax IDs for earnings accrued to a single account, and Google will only use the latest tax information you provide for the purpose of reporting to the IRS. Therefore, if you’d like to maintain separate tax records, you’ll need to submit a new application and eventually close your existing account.

If you have completed a Form W-9, W-8, or 8233, please respond to this email and indicate whether you prefer to create a new account or update your existing tax information and payee name.

If you wish to update your existing tax information and payee name, please also include the answer to each of the following four questions. This will help us ensure the privacy and security of your AdSense account.

1 – What was the amount of your last AdSense payment?
2 – What was the first day you received a page impression?
3 – How many page impressions did you get on your first day?
4 – What is your desired payee name?

You can find most of this information by logging into your account and checking your advanced reports. Pending your response, I’ll work with you to correct your account information so that all future payments are issued to your updated payee name.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Sunil
    The Google AdSense Team

    Following message:

Thanks for verifying your account. While processing your request I noticed that there’s already an AdSense account with the payee name — with the login —-. Since AdSense publishersare permitted one account per payee name, we’re unable to update this payee name to this name.

If you prefer, we can transfer the earnings from — LLC to your individual account. If we do so, these earnings will be reported under this taxpayer ID number. So that there’s no loss of revenue, you can then update the code on your sites with the code from your original account. We’ll eventually close your — LLC account.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

    Sincerely,

    Sunil
    The Google AdSense Team

    Next e-mail:

    Thanks for your response.

Prior to initiating this process, please be aware that the account settings and performance statistics associated with your original account cannot be transferred to your new account. Consequently, you will need to update your web pages with the ad code generated by your new account and duplicate any existing channel settings.

Additionally, you must also be able to receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN) via standard mail at the new address that you submit.

To help ease this transition, you will not be required to close your existing account prior to submitting a new application. This will enable you to gradually update the ad code on your web pages and minimize any loss of revenue. However, please note that we will not be able to transfer your unpaid earnings until your original account has been closed.

To continue with this process, we first need to verify your identity. Therefore, we kindly ask that you reply to this email and include answers to each of the following three questions for your account under support@—-.com.

1 – What was the amount of your last AdSense payment?
2 – In your reports, what was the first day you received a page impression?
3 – How many page impressions did you get on your first day?

You can find this information by logging into your AdSense account and checking your advanced reports. Once we have received your response, we will follow-up with you and provide additional instructions on how to create a new account with your updated mailing address.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Sunil
    The Google AdSense Team

    Next e-mail:

Thank you for your prompt response.

Now that we have verified your identity, we will be able to move forwardwith your request.

Please begin to replace the ad code currently located on your web pages with the ad code generated by your account under —@gmail.com. When that transition is complete, simply reply to this email and we will close your account under support@—.com.

Once your original account has been closed, we will then initiate the process for transferring your unpaid earnings to your new account.

To make sure that we do not send any future payments to your outdated address, we have placed a hold on your original account. As a result of this action, you will now see a message on your Payment History page that says, ‘Payment issue – please contact AdSense Support.’ Please note that this message is related to your change of country/territory request, and you do not need to contact us regarding this issue.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Sunil
    The Google AdSense Team

    Finally:

Thank you for your follow-up email. The account associated with —@gmail.com has now been permanently closed and you should not receive any future emails regarding the AdSense program at that address.

I’ve also gone ahead and reissued your payment from October. Within about 15 days, your earnings will be credited back into your account and you’ll see a ‘Check stopped – earnings credited back’ line appear on your Payment History page.

Please be assured that the earnings from this check and the remaining earnings in your account will be transferred to your account under support@—.com.

With regard to your unpaid earnings, the remaining balance on your old account will be transferred to your new account in approximately 30 days. As a result, you should expect to see a credit posted to the Payment History page of your new account during the first week of December.

Thank you for you continued patience throughout this process.

    Sunil
    The Google AdSense Team

Summary: I am very impressed with Google service. When you read webmaster forums you come across many posts of ‘unfair’ account ban or something similar.

And my experience is completely different. Though Google is very reluctant to do any kind of AdSense account transfers or any other account manipulations they helped me greatly and did it very professionally and fast.

    Affiliate marketing with CPA
       November 20th, 2006

I have never been successful with cost per action affiliate marketing. I have made a few sales with CJ, but not much success with this or other CPA networks like LinkShare, Performics, AzoogleAds, etc.

And it is a mystery for me how people make good money with this technique. A good sample of experience is shared here. What should you take into consideration selecting offers for your visitors?

    1. What is my demographic? (Male Female Age Income etc)
    2. What is my target country? (90% of CPA’s are US only)
    3. What are their interests? (is the site generic or niche targeted, What is the niche)
    4. Do I have enough traffic or should I work on getting more traffic first?

Now you have answered those questions this gives you an idea of what to target. Below are a few examples of what offers I would choose dependant on some of the answers above.

    Site 1:
US women, Age 18 to 40, targeted at mothers.
A Great offer for this site would be a CPA offer from Maxbounty. It is an easy signup offer for Club mom. Another offer I would try is 3 Year Free of Women’s Magazines (Allure, Cosmopolitan, & Glamour). While these don’t pay out high dollar the do have EPC’s of around .45.

    Site 2:
US Teens, Age 12 to 25, targeted at social networking
A great offer for Teens is ANY easy signup offer for cool gadgets, like laptops, ipods, cell phones etc. If you have a teen site you have to TRY promoting ringtones. Maxbounty and Azoogle have many ringtone offers to choose from. You will need to try different ones to see which one converts best with your site.

    Site 3:
US Men, Age 18-35, targeted at professionals
This audience at times is very tough to convert as they aren’t dumb and will not signup for just any offer. BUT most professionals don’t have time for dating so they turn to online dating services Maxbounty and Azoogle both have great dating offers that convert well. Depending on the site it could do well with some of the investor or start your own business kits.

The 3 sites above are just examples, but the main key is you know your traffic better than anyone. Target them and give them what they want and it will convert. The last question #4 is a tough one… but usually if I am only getting 10 to 100 unique visitors a day I try increasing that traffic before I try pushing to many CPA offers.

It is also a common practice to place these offers above the fold with something like ‘Hot offers’ . Pop unders also work in many cases. And remember to rotate your offers and replace those that do not work.

Summary: It sounds quite reasonable and easy. After reviewing these 4 points I conclude that I miss point #4 – none of my websites are well established on the Internet.

Another other option to promote CPA offers is PPC marketing. But the recent Google changes make it difficult do it with AdWords. And the latter is the most advanced and reliable PPC engine.
