Freelance writing
Are you good at writing? Many websites and blogs are in need of copy writers that will help them keep their online projects updated. They can ask you to re-write news stories or develop unique articles on some very specific topics. The pay differs accordingly. Do not be scared if you need to write articles on specific topics – you can make online research or at the library and at the end to produce a nice piece of content. Initially, no doubt, you need some practice, but with time you will feel more confident.
If your customer likes the result you are likely to get your freelance job on a long-term basis – websites and blogs need fresh content all the time.
The rates are different. I have seen a craigslist.org ad where they promised 10.00$ per article (do not remember the details and the requirements) and I have seen an ad at sitepoint.com where a guy was looking for people to re-write news for miserable .25$ a piece. Though he said that every news was 3-4 sentences long and there was no limit – you could produce 100-1000 edited news per day (I am not sure there are so many daily news in any sector).
Good places to start your search of freelance writing opportunities are:

Webmaster Forums (i.e. DigitalPoint.com, SitePoint.com and the like)
Craigslist and other classifieds sites
BloggerJobs, BlogIt, WriteLance and similar sites that focus on this sort of jobs.
