    Increasing Online Entrepreneur Profit: What to Sell on the Internet?

    This issue has already been under discussion more than once, but I would still rather return to it once again. So the big question is what products to sell. Definitely there are two ways you shouldn’t go:

    1. Base your product choice on your own preferences
    2. Rely too much on hot lists

    The market might not be ready for your own preferences or the competition on this or that good might be too high to get in. When the good gets into some kind of hot list, the supply is likely to be already higher than the demand.

    That’s why market research must be the major factor you should consider when choosing a product to sell. You need to concentrate on a certain product and avoid general research of the market. All you need to learn is the DEMAND and the COMPETITION. Moreover, you should look for a product with a steady and high demand, but the competition must be within reasonable limits. A decent research will tell you what to sell an how to do it.

    If you have already chosen some particular good, here are some questions for you to answer. They will help you find out if you have made the right choice:

    1. Is the Demand high? (useful tools: WordTracker.com, Terapeak.com to)
    2. Is the Competition high? If you want to learn the competition do the same as the customers do: type the name of the product in a search engine a find out how many results are there
    3. Can You be competitive? You have to take into consideration the prices of your competitors and some other factors. Compare these factors with yours and learn if you can actually compete with these sellers.

    Market your product properly

    Market research can help you both find what to sell, but more important HOW to sell it. Find the best keywords people search for and make them your keywords. All you need is a specific kind of traffic targeted exactly at what you are selling.

    Look at your competitors, find both successful and unsuccessful ones, compare their strategies and find out what makes a successful retailer different from an unsuccessful one. You have to learn your market and know it like the palm of your hand otherwise you are deemed to a failure.
