Summary: Affiliate networks are not all the same - some are likely to be a better match for your website. Also sometimes webmaster due to his lack of experience runs into trouble with major networks and start searching for alternate ways to monetize their web traffic once he is suspended from AdSense or YPN. Here comes the above list that is of great value in these cases.

It took me a while to get accepted by Chitika. I was not obsessed with getting signed up with this service, but I was interested (and I am still) to test the earnings of this affiliate network I can get.

My photo website was twice rejected. I made a pause for a month or so and then contacted their support service via e-mail asking to re-check my website that in my opinion fits well as a Chitika program publisher. Next morning I have received a reply – your website is reviewed and accepted.

Now I am about to place Chitika ads at the websites and see if we are really a good match.

Before rushing to paste the code at the pages of my website I made up my mind to explore the optimization tips to get maximum effect of using Chitika ads.

Yes, Chitika network is relatively new, but it has generated much buzz online in the past months and I expected to be overwhelmed with tips and tricks… I was wrong.

These are the only valuable resources on the Chitika optimization topic I have found so far. But I should say that they are sufficient. One can apply AdSense Heat Maps – I am sure it will work just fine with Chitika.

Summary: Chitika optimization resources are not abundant on the Internet (compared to the amount of resources, posts, articles, forum discussions you will find if you decide to do this sort of research for Google AdSense).

But it saves you a lot of time – I remember reading Google AdSense optimization tips that were all the same in thousands articles.

Recently there was much online hype with AOL making public its search data for the period of three months. AOL tried to correct this mistake by withdrawing the data asap, but search marketers were fast to grasp the value of the information and make it available online - you can download the AOL search data here. In fact I have seen free and useful online tools based on this data. See a sample here.

No doubt, the information is a great keyword list for search marketers – 100% authentic and 100% free. And remember that AOL uses Google search results. So, in fact we wee granted Google search results for the period of three months.

One of the conclusions I particularly find useful is the analysis of click rate depending on your position in a search engine:

Summary: While reading articles, forum and blog posts on AOL search data release I got astonished at how quick online marketers were to react. Yes, I was more struck with this instantaneous reaction than with AOL blunder and value of the available search data.
