Affiliate marketing success = constant learning and testing
Once you see your websites become profitable you feel great satisfaction. You realize that the hours of your work were not wasted in vain. From this moment on you have two ways to go with affiliate marketing:
a. You can scale your profitable activity up once you know how to make your website type profitable. Just make a few similar websites in different niches or focus on this website adding new content and features on a regular basis. Or
b. You can test other techniques in affiliate marketing that you know work great with other webmasters, but you had no time to try.
In my opinion, it is the second way to go. The reasons are numerous:
- you diversify your income sources;
- you feel more confident;
- you reduce your risks that in case your current profitable algorithm expires you will have to start from scratch;
- you learn new things, get new ideas, make new contacts;
- you are likely to find ways to earn more than you are doing currently
It is a good idea to make a list of things to learn and try with your profession. The list is not fixed and you can modify your plan according to the situation – you can add new emerging techniques to try and delete the ones that are outdated or inefficient you know from the people you trust.
Every person has his own experiences, level of skills, etc. My list of things to try in Internet marketing includes at this time:
- PPC arbitrage
- Landing pages
- Data feeds (a nice place to learn some basics is here)
- E-mail newsletter (it remains the best way to keep in contact with your audience)
- MySpace marketing (am I too late to the game?)
- Test with new website types to diversify my portfolio
- Actively experiment with AzoogleAds offers
Summary: I guess every person needs a sort of a plan to progress and to keep up with the time.
How much time can the plan like this take? I think each technique will take probably a month or so to get a good idea how things work. And then it is necessary to track the results.
It is not the only work that I have to do, so I think I will be through by the summer of 2007.
