    MySpace has been Hacked!!!
       July 24th, 2006

MySpace_logoMyspace.com has been hacked using a flash based redirect that exploits what is apparently a gaping wide hole in the Myspace code. If you are logged into Myspace, and you visit your friend’s page, and then find yourself reading blog post containing a diatribe about how the United States government is behind the 9/11 attacks, then your account has been hacked, and everyone who visits your page will be infected.

The solution to this problem is not that difficult: remove the line below in your profile:

    fembed ffallowscriptaccess=”fnever” xsrc=
    “fhttp://i105.photobucket.com
    /albums/mff225/yrkblack/redirecft.swf”
    BY SPAIRLKAIFS

In case you see nothing in your About Me section, you will need to click on the link that says “Safe edit mode” in the top right corner of the edit screen. You should be able to edit your About Me section at that point. But, if you click that button and you are taken to a screen that deals with your Myspace groups and says something like, “you have no groups to moderate“, then you will need to change the address in the Url box. It may end with this: fuseaction=groups.safemode, and you will need to change it to read: fuseaction=profile.safemode and then hit enter. From there, you should be able to remove the offending line of code from your account. But the best way not to get hacked is to keep away from viewing other people’s accounts until Myspace fixes this problem.

Top 10 Stupid Business Ideas That Made Millions of Dollars
       July 24th, 2006

    1. Million Dollar Homepage

1000000 pixels, charge a dollar per pixel. That is perhaps the dumbest idea for online business anyone could have possible come up with. Alex Tew sells pixels. He possesses 1000000 pixels and sells each pixel for $1. So now count and see he is a millionaire

    2. SantaMail

A brilliant idea. Get a postal address at North Pole, think you are Santa Claus and charge parents 10 bucks for every letter you send to their kids! Byron Reese sent over 200000 letters since the beginning of his business in 2001.

    3. Doggles

The starter of the business created googles for dogs and sold millions of them… so now he is a millionaire

    4. LaserMonks

Monks come to your home to refill cartriges. It seems impossible, but in 2005 they earned $2,5 million.

    5. AntennaBalls

Jason Wall sells antenna ball online, and now he is now a millionaire.

    6. FitDeck

Phil Black created cards featuring exercise routines and earned $4.7 million.

    7. PositivesDating.Com

Paul Graves and Brandon Koechlin created a dating site for HIV positive people. In 2006 they earned $110,000.

    8. Designer Diaper Bags

In 2004, Christie Rein with her husband, Marcus, designed a diaper bag that can hold a travel pack of wipes and two to four diapers. Now the company has bags in 22 different styles, available online and in 120 boutiques across the globe for $14.99.

    9. TruGamerz

The company created Faux-suede padded covers for game controllers and gel thumb pads for analog joysticks. They proved to be extremely popular with annual sales half a million dollars.

    10. Lucky Wishbone Co.

The company produces wishbones and retail them for 3 bucks a pop. Ken Ahroni, the company founder, expects 2006 sales to reach $1 million.

    Monetizing your forums
       July 20th, 2006

Occasionally I have an idea to start a forum on www.dropshiparea, but the website at this moment in time does not get many visitors and from my experience of running forums on other websites I am not sure the community will be a success in a situation like this.

But many websites run forums - they add value to the website plus generate some income to their owner. Yes, it is known that forums are harder to monetize than a website, blog or other types of online property. As a rule, community members visit the forums to talk and share their experience. They are completely blind to all types of ads. But it does not mean one should not try and experiment.

What are your options to monetize your forum?

    - YPN/ AdSense (both – for content and search). Some webmasters disable search for the unregistered users and prompt new visitors to use AdSense Search if they want to find something on the forum.

Google has a heat map for forum owners to run AdSense on their message boards:

    Adsense forum heat map.JPG

    - Sell sticky – posts that are placed in a fixed position on the top of forums

    - Sell text links – to find those who will pay for links on your forum - advertise directly, use special services (www.text-link-ads.com and similar) or both

    - CPM - use adv networks that pay for banner impressions (ValueClick does not allow to place its adv in the forums as well as in blogs; other top CPM networks - Tribalfusion, Burstmedia, Casale - do not restrict it in their terms of service)

    - CPA - cost per action networks (Azoogle, CJ, LinkShare): this kind of adv used to be the most efficient a few years back, but no more. But they are a nice addition to your other types of adv. Also join some in-house programs.

There are more methods to monetize forums. I do not doubt that. Would be thankful if you share them with me and the readers.

Important thing to implement on forums: install a rotating script that will serve different creatives from the pool of ads. I think phpAdsNew is the most popular on the market. It is a free and powerful script available here

Summary: Forums are a good way to make your online business less dependent on the search engine behavior and updates. It is the most valuable thing about forums – they are a never ending source of traffic. In addition to this, you have a nice opportunity to earn extra cash using the above methods. Do not expect much, but a nice addition is guaranteed. Just remember to experiment and use what works.
